Every photographer has their own photography and editing style, so it’s important to make sure my style and the package you choose align with what you’re looking for. I’ve included the most commonly asked questions below so you’ll know exactly what to expect before, during, and after your newborn session.

Why choose me?

Understanding the challenge of trusting someone with your precious bundle, especially as a fellow mom, I prioritize earning trust rather than expecting it. Since starting my newborn photography business in 2017, safety has been my absolute priority, reflected in every pose and shot I capture. It’s crucial to choose someone experienced and knowledgeable in delicately caring for your little treasure.

When should I book the newborn session?

Typically, it’s advised to secure the newborn session around the second trimester, aligning it with your due date. I take on a very limited number of sessions each month. To confirm your booking, a non-refundable $100 retainer is required, with the remaining balance due on the session day.

When is the ideal time for newborn photos?

Usually, newborn sessions are scheduled between 6 to 12 days after birth. During this period, most babies sleep well, leading to smoother sessions, and their skin looks lovely. If the baby is premature, born before 37 weeks, we’ll plan the session accordingly. Over the years, I’ve gained extensive experience with premature babies, they might be tiny, but they’re incredibly strong.

What should I bring or prepare for the session?

You don’t need to prepare anything except the essentials such as a pacifier, formula, diapers, and wipes. We aim to keep the session as simple as possible for parents, particularly new parents. If you have any special item you want to incorporate into the photos, feel free to bring it along.

Are we able to purchase more photos?

You’ll receive the exact number of photos included in the package you have booked. If you’d like additional photos, you have the option to purchase extra images. Raw images aren’t provided as they’re all copyright protected. Clients often choose to add additional images from the selection gallery. Each additional newborn digital image is priced at $30+taxes, professionally retouched, and delivered in high resolution.

What if I don’t like the editing style? Can I request a different editing style or receive the RAW images?

My photography and editing style is an important part of my finished work. All completed images displayed on my website, portfolio, and social media represent the photography style, colour, level of retouching, and overall finished look you can expect from your final gallery. I highly recommend reviewing my portfolio carefully before booking to make sure my style aligns with your expectations.

Every photographer has their own unique photography and editing style, and my final images are professionally edited and retouched in a style consistent with the work shown throughout my portfolio. Minor retouching adjustments may be considered; however, requests to change the overall editing style, remove my standard editing, or re-edit the images in a completely different style are not included.

RAW or unedited images are not provided or available for purchase, as they are unfinished work and do not represent the final quality or artistic style of my photography.

Since every photographer’s style is different, it’s important to choose a photographer whose work matches your personal preferences and expectations. If my photography or editing style isn’t what you’re looking for, I kindly recommend choosing a photographer whose style is a better fit for you.

What if I prefer the RAW/unedited images in the selection gallery and don’t like the edited photos? Can I have the RAW images instead of or in addition to the edited images?

After your photoshoot, I’ll send you a selection gallery so you can choose the number of images included in your package for final editing. The photos in this gallery are straight out of the camera and are provided for photo selection purposes only. They are unedited previews and unfinished images, so they do not represent my photography and editing style, the quality of my finished work, or the final product you will receive.

Please do not use the unedited selection previews as a reference when comparing them to your final edited images. If you would like to know what your finished gallery will look like, please refer to the completed images displayed on my website, portfolio, and social media. Your final images will be professionally edited and retouched in a style consistent with the finished work shown throughout my portfolio.

The straight-out-of-camera look shown in the selection gallery is not an alternative editing style or final product that I offer. RAW or unedited images are not provided, either instead of or in addition to the final edited images, and are not available for purchase.

If you prefer the straight-out-of-camera, unedited look over the finished style shown in my portfolio, my photography service may not be the right fit for what you’re looking for. Editing and retouching are an essential part of my finished work, so I highly recommend reviewing my portfolio carefully before booking to make sure my photography and editing style align with your expectations.

Can we add additional family members to the session?

Except for the fully wrapped newborn session, which is baby-only, all other newborn packages include immediate family members (parents and the baby’s siblings. Cousins are not included). Additional family members are welcome to join the session for an add-on fee of $50+taxes per person. The number of images included in your package remains the same, the add-on fee covers the additional time for photographing and editing.

When can I receive my gallery?

After the session, I’ll send you the selection link within 2 days once full payment is received on the session day. After you select your package photos, I’ll begin editing. The standard turnaround time is 2–4 weeks. During busy seasons such as fall and Christmas, turnaround may extend to approximately 3–6 weeks. If you’d like to receive your gallery within one week, I can prioritize your edits for an additional rush fee of $300.
