Newborn Skin Editing: Before & After + What Parents Should Know

A little note about newborn skin 🤍

One of the most common concerns I hear from parents during newborn and milestone sessions is about their baby’s skin.

Many parents feel worried when they see baby acne or cradle cap on their newborn, but this is actually very common and completely normal.

After birth, babies are still influenced by maternal hormones from pregnancy. As their bodies adjust, these hormones can temporarily stimulate the skin, leading to:
• baby acne
• redness
• dry or peeling skin
• cradle cap (usually around 2–3 months, on the scalp or brows)

This usually appears within the first few weeks and can last for a short period of time.

The good news 🤍

✨ These are all temporary
✨ They don’t cause discomfort to your baby
✨ They will gradually improve on their own

What this means for your session

Please don’t feel stressed if your baby’s skin isn’t “perfect” on the day of your session 🤍

With my professional editing, these can be gently refined, just like in the photos above.
The first image is straight out of camera (SOOC), and the second image is the final retouched version.

As you can see, the baby girl’s skin looks smooth and natural while still keeping her real features.

A little reassurance 🤍

Your baby is perfect just the way they are 🤍
These little skin changes are just part of the newborn stage, and they pass so quickly.

There’s no need to worry about the skin — I’ve got you covered.

If you’re looking for a Winnipeg newborn photographer, I’d love to help you capture these special moments.
